Six Warrandyte Netball Club players represented Manningham Netball at the Netball Victoria Central East Association Championships on Sunday — with one team producing a finish for the ages.
Alannah, Erin, Eva, Scarlett, Sierra, and Sophie all pulled on the Manningham colours for the day, competing against the strongest players from associations across Melbourne’s east. A special mention to Alice, who was selected but unfortunately couldn’t participate due to injury.
The Association Championships are a key step in the Netball Victoria pathway. Each region holds a qualifying tournament, with both grand finalists progressing to Finals Day at the State Netball Centre in Parkville. Our players competed in the Central East region.
A grand final finish for the ages
Eva and the Manningham 17 and Under Division 1 team had a day to remember. They went undefeated through the tournament and then won their grand final by a single goal — scored in the last 10 seconds.
The win means the team has qualified for Finals Day, where they’ll compete against the top teams from every region in Victoria.
The pathway from Saturday netball
Having six players from one club selected to represent Manningham is a reflection of the depth of talent being developed at WNC. These players train at Taroona Avenue during the week and play in the Manningham Netball Saturday competition — the same competition that all of our junior and senior teams compete in.
The pathway from club netball to representative level is open to all players, with eligibility for Manningham Rep teams starting at the 11 and Under age group.
Congratulations to all six players on a fantastic day, to Alice on her selection, and good luck to Eva and the 17U team at Finals Day.
