Four flags on a scorching grand final day

WNC Wallabies 13U/2 premiers
 ·

Warrandyte Netball Club won four of six grand finals on a sweltering November day to cap off the 2024 Spring season, banishing the memory of the previous season’s one-from-five grand final record.

The 17U Magpies completed back-to-back reserve premierships with an 8am start to beat the 37-degree heat. The 13U Wallabies avenged their Autumn extra-time loss to claim a flag of their own, the 13U Kangaroos held firm despite shortened quarters, and the Open B Kestrels defeated the Falcons in a repeat of the previous year’s grand final.

The 15U Emus came agonisingly close to a fifth flag, losing by a single goal to an undefeated EDNC Jets side in a game that was level at three-quarter time. Off the court, the WNC NetSetGO program was named a finalist for Woolworths NetSetGo Centre of the Year, and WNC’s youngest players featured prominently at Melbourne Vixens and Australian Diamonds games.
