The Open B Kestrels won their first premiership in the 2023 Spring season, defeating the WNC Falcons 26-22 in another all-Warrandyte grand final.
Eight Warrandyte teams reached the semi-finals across the age groups, with the 13U Echidnas, 15U Emus, 15U Lyrebirds, and Kestrels all advancing to the grand final. The Echidnas’ loss was particularly tough, going down 13-17 to Deep Creek Zircons after easily beating them 20-8 in their last meeting.
For the Kestrels, it was a breakthrough result after they had qualified for the grand final alongside their clubmates. Grand finals between Warrandyte teams are becoming a regular feature of the club’s finals campaigns.
