The Open B Eagles soared to an undefeated premiership in the 2004 Spring season, doubling their opponents’ score in a dominant 44-22 grand final win over Koonung.
Ten of Warrandyte’s 19 teams made the finals and six reached the grand final, but it was the Eagles who stood tallest on the day. After leading 10-8 at the first break, they pulled away decisively despite the heat, ignoring the conditions to put the game beyond doubt.
The Under-13 Wallabies were also standouts, reaching the grand final after finishing third in their section. The 15U Rosellas, winter-season grand finalists, were depleted by injury but fought hard against a strong DYC side, while the 15U Magpies continued their rivalry with DYC in another tight contest.
With the club fielding 19 teams across all age groups in the Manningham Netball Association competition, 2004 underlined Warrandyte’s depth from junior through to open age.
